Why should I use a sitemap?

A sitemap helps search engines crawl your site more efficiently. For newly launched sites, e-commerce sites with many pages, or pages with weak internal linking, a sitemap significantly speeds up indexing.

    • Paste your URLs, one per line
    • Choose the update frequency (changefreq) and priority values
    • Copy the generated XML and upload it as sitemap.xml to your site's root

Then don't forget to add the sitemap address to your robots.txt file and submit it to Google Search Console.

    Frequently Asked Questions

A sitemap is an XML file that presents a list of all the important pages on your site to search engines. Google and Bing use this file to discover your pages faster and more thoroughly; it is especially useful for new or deeply linked pages.

Upload the generated sitemap.xml file to your site's root directory (e.g. yoursite.com/sitemap.xml), then add its address under Google Search Console > Sitemaps. It is also recommended to add a 'Sitemap:' line to your robots.txt file.

priority (0.0–1.0) indicates a page's relative importance within your site, while changefreq specifies how often the content is updated. These are hints to search engines; Google treats them as suggestions rather than strict rules.

A single sitemap file can contain up to 50,000 URLs or 50 MB. For larger sites, you need to create multiple sitemaps and combine them in a 'sitemap index' file.
