What Is the Difference Between VPS and VDS?
The terms VPS (Virtual Private Server) and VDS (Virtual Dedicated Server) are often used interchangeably, but they actually describe two different virtualization models. A VPS usually runs on a container-based, shared-kernel architecture such as OpenVZ / Linux Containers: lower overhead, lower isolation. A VDS uses full virtualization such as KVM, where every server has its own kernel and resources (vCPU, RAM, disk) are reserved as fully dedicated, so a neighboring server cannot affect you.
